Terms and Conditions
Article 1 – Definitions and General Concepts
“You”, “The renter” means the drivers and payers mentioned in the rental agreement and having signed it as a renter.
“We”, “the company” means the company Albassit Cars, whose name appears on the rental agreement.
“Vehicle” means a passenger car or a utility vehicle that we rent to you for the agreed duration of the rental agreement.
“Damage” means any damage occurring to the vehicle, including glass breakage, optics, mirrors, and headlights.
“Theft” of the vehicle includes theft by vandalism, theft of accessories, and attempted theft.
“MAD”, Moroccan Dirham.
Article 2 – Eligibility to Rent a Car
You must provide us with the documents and information necessary to establish your rental agreement, including your identity and passport, address (home and email), home phone number, mobile phone number, date of issue and expiration of your driver's license as well as its place of issue, and the means of payment for your rental. Any driver must hold a valid driver's license corresponding to the category of the rented vehicle for at least 12 months. He or she must also be over 21 years old (the required age can be higher for some vehicle categories). A “young driver fee” may be applied to your rental if you are between 18 and 20 years old. The average cost is around 200.00 MAD per day.
At the beginning of the rental, you will have to make a prepayment of the foreseeable amount of the rental invoice, plus the deposit.
Article 3 – The Vehicle
Article 3.1 – Condition of the Vehicle
A document describing the condition of the vehicle is attached to your contract. You agree to record on it, before leaving the station, any apparent damage not described. Otherwise, you will be deemed to have received a vehicle in accordance with the declaration. Unfortunately, we cannot accept complaints for apparent damage not reported at the time of departure. You must return the vehicle in the condition in which you received it. Any repair costs due to an error on the part of the renter will be added to the rental cost.
Article 3.2 – Use of the Vehicle
You must never drive the vehicle outside Morocco (across the border) without the written authorization of Albassit Cars.
According to the principle of personal penalties, you are responsible for offenses committed during the rental period. Consequently, you are informed that your details may be communicated to police authorities upon request.
You undertake to use the vehicle reasonably and prudently and in particular, without being under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any other substance liable to impair your driving ability, in accordance with the Highway Code and its intended use, which primarily means the free transport of persons for a passenger vehicle.
ATTENTION: In particular, you must not use the rental vehicle to:
- Sublease it;
- Transport passengers for remuneration;
- Carry a number of passengers clearly greater than what is mentioned on the vehicle's registration certificate;
- Participate in rallies, competitions, or tests, wherever they are located;
- Give driving lessons;
- Push or tow another vehicle;
- Drive on a road unsuitable for a motor vehicle, or the surface or state of which poses risks for the tires or the parts under the vehicle;
- Commit any national/international offense;
- Drive the vehicle off-road, mountains, etc.
Albassit Cars allows pets to travel in rental vehicles. However, valeting and cleaning fees may apply.
The goods and baggage transported in the vehicle, including their packing and stowage, must neither damage the vehicle nor imply unreasonable risks for its occupants. When you park the vehicle, even for a short stop, you undertake to lock the vehicle and to use the alarm and/or anti-theft devices fitted on the vehicle (if any).
You must never leave the car unoccupied with the keys in the ignition. Not returning the keys voids the theft waiver. In case of damage or theft, you must transmit to the company as soon as possible the accident report or the theft report receipt issued by the authorities, as well as the keys and documents of the vehicle.
Article 3.3 – Maintenance / Mechanical Problems
During your rental and according to the mileage driven, you will have to perform routine inspection (oil level beyond 1000 kilometers, tire pressure, etc.) in accordance with reasonable and prudent use. The renter must remain vigilant to the signals from the vehicle dashboard warning lights and take all necessary precautionary measures, such as an emergency stop.
The vehicle is supplied with five tires compliant with traffic regulations. In case of damage to one of them for a reason other than normal wear, a latent defect, or a case of force majeure, you commit yourself to replacing it immediately at your own expense with a tire of the same size, type, brand, and wear.
In the event of a mechanical breakdown only (excluding accidents), you benefit from assistance included in the price of your rental. The conditions of this assistance are defined in article 8 below "Insurance conditions, Assistance, and useful advice."
ATTENTION: Albassit Cars does not commit to supplying you with a specific model or color car, and reserves the right to make modifications if necessary. We do guarantee the category of your choice, and if it is not available, a higher category.
Article 4 – Duration of Stay
Article 4.1 – Definition of Calculation
The renter commits to returning the vehicle to the company on the date specified by the rental agreement, under penalty of civil and criminal proceedings. The rental duration is determined by indivisible 24-hour periods, starting from the time the vehicle is made available; however, you benefit from a 29-minute tolerance at the end of the rental before a new 24-hour period is applied. If you want to keep the vehicle beyond the specified duration in the contract, you must first come to the Albassit Cars office to extend the rental agreement and pay the extended rental period.
Article 4.2 – End of Rental
The rental ends when the vehicle, its keys, and documents are returned at the company counter to a Albassit Cars agent. Under no circumstances must you hand the keys to people present in the parking lots and claiming to be Albassit Cars agents. If the vehicle was to be returned without its keys, the cost of replacing them will be billed to the renter as well as the repatriation of the vehicle. Repatriation of the vehicle will be charged at 5 MAD/km (VAT included) to the nearest Albassit Cars station. The company cannot be held liable for property left in the vehicle at the end of the rental.
ATTENTION: Only the handing over of the vehicle, documents, and keys to the rental agent during the agency’s opening hours brings an end to the rental agreement. Reminder: you are liable until the end of the rental agreement. Exceptions: if the vehicle has been confiscated, the rental agreement can be terminated ipso jure as soon as the company is informed by the judicial authority or the renter. Any use of the vehicle harmful to the company authorizes the latter to terminate the rental agreement ipso jure. In this case, the company reserves the right to claim compensation for prejudice suffered.
Article 5 – Financial Terms
Article 5.1 – General Conditions
